Colorado Green NowThe Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is asking Coloradans to install and participate in the state’s new COVID-19 Exposure Notification service that launched on October 25th. According to a CDPHE representative:

One of the key tools to slow the spread of COVID-19 is right in your pocket. CO Exposure Notifications is a system developed in partnership with Google & Apple to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by anonymously alerting users who have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. You may have already seen the push notification pop up on your smartphone to access this service. It is meant to complement existing state-wide efforts without compromising the privacy of its users.

By opting in, your device will share anonymous tokens with other users using your phone’s Bluetooth. If another user tests positive for COVID-19 within a 14-day period, your app will notify you. If you test positive, you can easily and anonymously notify others to stop the spread of COVID-19. Tokens contain no personal information or location data, and everything is completely anonymous.

Knowing about an exposure allows you to self-quarantine immediately, get tested, and reduce the exposure risk to your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and community. The service works best when we can get as many people as possible to enable notifications, so we would love to have you share this with your community and employees and/or post to social media, or even by simply adding it to your existing list of COVID resources. Help us bring Coloradans back to daily life!
