Colorado's water plan

ALCC has been involved in the development of the Colorado Water Plan by carefully reviewing the drafts and offering the expertise and guidance of Colorado's green industry through public comments. As stewards of outdoor water use, we look forward to continued involvement in the evolution of the plan and implementation of it. We will continue to make ALCC available as a resource for science-based information and as a partner in influencing responsible water use and conservation.

After careful review of the water plan, ALCC has provided a policy review of the final Colorado Water Plan, issued on November 19, 2015. This review will help guide further actions that the green industry can take to guide and support implementation of the plan.

A valuable resource that the green industry provides are the GreenCO Best Management Practices (BMPs), guidelines on how to reduce water consumption and protect water quality while producing, designing, installing and maintaining healthy, beautiful landscapes. We believe that the implementation of these BMPs on a state and local level could greatly contribute to water conservation in Colorado.

To that end, a 2015 study quantified the benefits of those BMPs was commissioned to give not just our industry but policymakers and community members a tangible example of how the BMPs can save water.

These efforts and more reinforce ALCC's commitment to advocacy on behalf of the landscape industry and to helping Colorado manage outdoor water use. To become involved in these advocacy efforts, contact us at 303 757-5611 or [email protected].
