Additional H-2B visas to be released to returning H-2B workers only Email

H-2B visa programThis week, the US Department of Labor and the Department of Homeland Security announced a final rule regarding the release of an additional 30,000 H-2B visas. The rule was posted to the Federal Register on May 8, 2019.

According to an announcement by Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K. McAleenan, “These supplemental H-2B visas are available only to returning workers who received an H-2B visa, or were otherwise granted H-2B status, during one of the last three fiscal years (FY 2016, 2017, or 2018), and availability is restricted by prioritizing only those businesses who would suffer irreparable harm without the additional workers.”

Earlier this year, Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC) announced their new Sustainable Landscape Management (SLM) initiative. It provides sustainable landscape management standards that protect and conserve water and reduce waste generation while maintaining the health of urban landscapes that consist of durable and mature plant material.

In 2016, according to various national insurance carriers and national public resources on employee theft, the industry with the highest targeted sector for employee theft was the financial services sector at 18 percent. Real estate/construction sector came in at fourth place with 10 percent of total cases reported.
