laddersFalls are a Leading Cause of Death--and Nearly Half are From Ladders

Last month was National Ladder Safety Month, but any month is a great time to call employee attention to one of the most dangerous pieces of equipment that is used both at work and at home--a ladder.

Even if you are thinking "we don't use ladders on the job," this training will benefit your employees, and your business. After all, regardless of where the accident occurs, injuries mean time away from work.

Some Frightening Figures on Ladder Falls

  1. Ladders were on OSHA's Top 10 violations of 2017, with 2,241 citations issued.
  2. Companies with the fewest employees had the highest fatality rates.
  3. 43% of fatal falls in the last decade have involved a ladder.
  4. 20% of workplace fall injuries involve a ladder. That statistic shoots up to 81% in the construction industry
  5. More than 90,000 people receive emergency room treatment for ladder-related injuries every year.

ladder safety app is available from The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
