Colorado law requires landscape professionals to have a valid nursery license

It is that time of year again for landscape professionals to submit the renewal for their Nursery license. All nursery licenses expire December 31st. There are some changes to be aware of before submitting your Nursery application for 2023 -- in particular that paper applications will no longer be accepted. Registering online will be the only way to renew for the 2023 registration year.
To regulate plant quality, those that sell or distribute nursery stock for commercial purposes must register as a “Nursery” with the CDA. All growing nurseries (includes sod farms), retailers that sell nursery stock, landscape contractors, brokers, and collectors must register if selling or distributing nursery stock for commercial purposes.

More helpful links and information are below:

  • If you have used AgLicense before, you should have your Username and Password. Please, log into your account and renew your registration(s). Please let CDA know if and how the online AgLicense registration renewal system is not working.
  • Email [email protected] if you need to change your username or password, business name, physical address, business entity, seed label information, or if you have any questions. Be sure to provide your name, DBA and/or business name, Acct ID and the best phone number to contact you.
  • If you are a new business or business owner, or have never applied for a nursery license before, this renewal cannot be used to register.  Please download an application. If you need help, email CDA with the Subject: Help - Electronic Application along with your contact information and they will call you.
  • If you are a new business owner who purchased it from another individual, please reference the business that has been purchased or assumed.
  • If you have any questions regarding the process, please do not hesitate to contact the nursery program at CDA. You can also visit their website for more information on renewing and registering, including who needs to do it, and how tos.
