In fiscal year 2019, there were 33,401 inspections nationwide, which is greater than the total inspections conducted in each of the previous three years. With just 2,100 inspectors—one for every 59,000 workers—they are responsible for the working conditions of 130 million workers. Violations included situations related to trenching, falls, silica dust exposure, and more. In addition to compliance inspections, OSHA offered training and compliance assistance to employers with programs such as the On-Site Consultation Program.
