Worker diggingColorado Springs Utilities has proposed an ordinance change for the City of Colorado Springs concerning underground damage prevention safety. As a home rule entity, the city would establish its own utility locates program and would be responsible for enforcement.

In July, Colorado Springs Utilities sent a summary of the proposal to the city’s Utilities Board, which also serves as Colorado Springs City Council. The proposed ordinance will be presented to the Utilities Board at their August 19 meeting and will be referred to City Council in September. Stakeholder input is requested. Questions and feedback can be directed to the Christian Nelson | Issues Management Lead
