Consumer spending on home services recovered faster than all other categories and has exceeded pre-pandemic levels from June 2020 onwards, finds a mid-year report from home services website Jobber.

The findings may come as no surprise to those in the home services industry, which includes landscaping and lawn care in its “green segment.” Labor is a pain point despite unemployment rates, and many open positions remain unfilled. This is happening while demand for services is growing.

Jobber found that things slowed for lawn and landscape in Q2 of this year but it is regaining momentum. The slowdown may be due to supply chain issues and lack of labor. Growth, however, continues at a steady pace. Growth last year was tremendous for this segment compared to 2019.

Looking forward
Despite major declines in other categories, Jobber found that home services has recovered well from pandemic disruption. It has benefitted during recovery times, as renovations and home sales have grown and increased demand for services. They predict continued steady growth for the rest of the year.
