Senate Bill 18-167, "Enforce Requirements 811 Locate Underground Facilities," was introduced by Senators Kerry Donovan (D, District 5) and Ray Scott (R, District 7). The bill was drafted after several meetings with stakeholders, including landscape companies. Some stakeholder suggested language was incorporated into the bill, though not all issues were addressed. The commission created by the bill would review alleged violations of the excavation damage prevention law and assess actions such as fines if the violations are verified. Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado invites members to contact John McMahon at 303 757-5611 to share their comments on the bill and to let him know if they are willing to testify before the State Senate regarding the bill.
