HIRE VetsIf your landscape company employs US military veterans, you are invited to apply for governmental recognition of your support for vets. The US Department of Labor is launching a HIRE Vets Medallion Program in 2019, and on January 31 it will begin accepting 300 applications for the 2018 program demonstration.

“Military service develops leadership skills, technical expertise, and problem-solving capabilities — all in demand by America’s companies,” said U.S. Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta. “The HIRE Vets Medallion Program provides a tremendous opportunity for employers to recruit talented veterans and demonstrate support for those who have sacrificed so much for their country.”

Award recipients will receive a certificate documenting their recognition for the year. They will also have access to digital collateral, including a badge, that they can use to show their commitment to veterans’ employment.

There is no fee to apply for the program demonstration, and employers of all sizes may apply if they have at least one veteran employee. Applications will become available online at www.hirevets.gov on January 31, 2018.
