Today Governor Polis updated Coloradoans about the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He advised everyone to wear a non-medical mask when leaving home. Medical masks, especially N95 respirators, should be reserved for healthcare workers.

This latest guidance underscores the need for landscape workers to observe proper safety and sanitization protocols, especially maintaining social distancing, handwashing, and sanitizing surfaces. Social distancing is crucial to demonstrate your company’s professionalism and adherence to health and safety guidance during this time.

Please see today's announcement from U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regarding respiratory protection in light of the N95 mask shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic (click here to go directly to the guidance):

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued interim enforcement guidance to help combat supply shortages of disposable N95 filtering face piece respirators (N95 FFRs). The action marks the department’s latest step to ensure the availability of respirators and follows President Donald J. Trump’s Memorandum on Making General Use Respirators Available.

H-2B supplemental visa rule delayed, H-2B GAO report released Email

Please see the following announcement from NALP regarding the delay of the H-2B supplemental visa rule:

H-2B Supplemental Visa Rule Delayed Due to Economic Conditions
Earlier this week the anticipated H-2B Supplemental Rule to release 35,000 additional visas moved over to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). OIRA is the last stop before rules become finalized, and while it can take up to 90 days, internal sources indicated the rule was going to be published by early next week.

PPP loan applications open today, more guidelines and resources available Email

Good afternoon,

We have received additional direction, issued by the State of Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), regarding safety and social distancing on construction sites. Please read this information thoroughly as it applies to your worksites.

ALCC emphasizes that this guidance is provided for the safety and health of your crews and stresses the importance of maintaining proper distancing.

We recognize that some landscape companies have opted to delay projects that they deem non-essential. We understand that this is an individual choice and must be made on a case by case basis within each company. Often, the decision to put operations on hold is made in the interest of public health and the safety of the company team.

The department’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) posted a temporary rule issuing regulations pursuant to this new law, effective today, April 1, 2020.

The importance of crew safety and a call for questions Email

A strong reminder it is critical that our members are strictly following CDC and OSHA safety protocols around the COVID-19 outbreak and distancing. This is a concern not only for the safety and health of landscape employees but for the reputation of our industry that they are following social distancing guidelines.

While ALCC has provided information that supports the landscape industry as an essential service and a critical business that may continue to operate despite the stay-at-home order for Colorado, it is up to individual landscape companies to determine whether their services actually qualify as essential.

USCIS Temporary Office Closure Extended until at least May 3 Email

On March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services temporarily suspended routine in-person services to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). USCIS plans to begin reopening our offices on May 4, unless the public closures are extended further. USCIS staff are continuing to perform duties that do not involve contact with the public. However, USCIS will provide emergency services for limited situations. To schedule an emergency appointment, contact the USCIS Contact Center.
