Beware of scams related to Coronavirus

The US Treasury Department warns: Unsolicited Phone Calls, Text Messages, or Emails Purporting to be from the Treasury Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations, FinCEN, OFAC, the Treasury “Office of Legal Affairs”, or even from the Secretary of The Treasury, are frauds. 

The Federal Trade Commission also warns of scams related to the pandemic.   

The US Small Business Association has tips for business owners to avoid falling prey to scams.

Denver mayor issues stay-at-home order Email

Following the governor’s order regarding reducing the workforce by 50% in an attempt to slow the spread of Coronavirus, Mayor Hancock has now issued a stay-at-home order for City and County of Denver. Takes effect at 5 PM on March 24 and is in effect until April 10.

The order requires that all people in the City & County of Denver stay home and businesses implement work from home policies and delivery of goods to the greatest extent possible.

E-verify announces adjustments and flexibility Email

Please see the following announcement distributed via email regarding E-Verify:

E-Verify extends timeframe for taking action to resolve Tentative Nonconfirmations
E-Verify is extending the timeframe to take action to resolve Social Security Administration (SSA) Tentative Nonconfirmations (TNCs) due to SSA office closures to the public.

E-Verify is also extending the timeframe to take action to resolve Department of Homeland Security (DHS) TNCs in limited circumstances when an employee cannot resolve a TNC due to public or private office closures.

Colorado executive ordinance to reduce in-person workforce Email

A message from ALCC CEO John McMahon

Sunday evening, Governor Polis issued an order that requires non-critical workplaces in Colorado to reduce their in-person workforce temporarily by 50% due to the presence of COVID-19 in our state, and is requesting a reduction of more than 50% if possible. To achieve this, employees who are able to should telework, and others who cannot telework should stagger work schedules to reduce physical proximity of employees. This order does not apply to employers who can certify that employees are no closer than six feet apart during the workday, or to businesses which are critical industries. See the full order and exemptions.
