ALCC volunteer service awardsALCC recently presented four volunteer service awards to outstanding members in the Colorado landscape industry. The awards were given at an evening ceremony at Mile High Station in Denver, in conjunction with The ELITE Awards on March 16.

Each year, ALCC recognizes special industry members have demonstrated tremendous volunteer service. These individuals have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the Colorado landscape industry. They have shown integrity in their work and provide an example of how to best fulfill your job duties while raising the bar for colleagues.

CSU shines at National Collegiate Landscape Competition Email

National Collegiate Landscape CompetitionStudents from Colorado State University (CSU)—including recipients of ALCC scholarships—competed in the recent National Collegiate Landscape Competition (formerly Student Career Days). The team, as well as individual team members, made a great showing at the contest hosted by the National Association of Landscape Professionals.

Help needed to simplify Colorado sales tax Email

Simplify Colorado sales taxEfforts have been underway 
by the Colorado Municipal League during the past year and a half to develop draft uniform sales and use tax definitions. This undertaking is in response to Senate Joint Resolution (SJR-038) passed in 2014 that “requested” and “urged” municipalities to adopt and utilize a system of uniform definitions by August 2016.  In addition, it requests a mechanism for maintaining these definitions -- a key oversight in a similar undertaking that took place in the early 1990s.

Colorado landscape industry discusses model ordinance possibilities Email

Smart controllerAt ProGreen 2016, 75 members of the Colorado landscape industry gathered to discuss “What should the Colorado landscape look like?” The two-hour roundtable discussion helped create the foundation for what organizers hope will become a voluntary model ordinance for landscapes in the state. Brent Mecham (Irrigation Association) and Kristen Fefes (ALCC) facilitated the discussion.
