17,000 Front Range trees already prepped for Emerald Ash Borer Email

A score of cities and towns along the Front Range have already treated or removed more than 17,000 public trees in preparation for – or response to – the arrival of emerald ash borer (EAB), a highly destructive tree pest. These same municipalities also have already planted more than 17,000 ash replacement trees as part of their EAB management plans, and along with Boulder County have collectively spent more than $9 million on the management of a tree pest that in Colorado has thus far only been detected within Boulder County.

H-2B visa program update

Yesterday afternoon, the Senate Homeland Security Subcommittee held a hearing on the FY2019 Budget Request for the Department of Homeland Security. The hearing had only one panel and witness, the Honorable Kirstjen Nielsen, Secretary, U.S. DHS. During the hearing, two questions were put forth regarding H-2B issues.

Public comments needed on Denver green roof ordinance Email


Last November, Denver voters approved an ordinance that would require new buildings or buildings undergoing a roof replacement to install a green roof. A task force was formed in January this year with the goal of modifying the initiative to facilitate implementation and still produce the intended outcomes of the original initiative. A draft proposal was revealed last week by the task force, and the City and County of Denver are asking for public comments.
