H-2B visa program udpatesThe H-2B Workforce Coalition issued the following call-to-action today, urging supporters of H-2B reform to contact Congressional delegates and ask them to sign a letter asking leaders of the House & Senate Appropriations Committees to include "all of the beneficial H-2B provisions from the House and Senate Departments of Homeland Security and Labor Appropriations bills." View or download the letter here .

The deadline for signing is noon on Friday, November 6, so we urge you to take action today and contact your Senators and Representatives. Contact information for Colorado Congressional delegates can be found here or at the bottom of this post. You can also follow @COGreenNOW for sample tweets.

H-2B Workforce Coalition call-to-action:

Now that the President signed the two-year budget agreement into law, Congress is turning its attention to completing the annual federal spending bills for the remainder of the fiscal year. As you know, the current short-term spending measure, or continuing resolution, funds the federal government through December 11. Lawmakers are currently working to hammer out a final spending agreement.

We specifically need you to call your Senators and Representative and ask them to sign onto the letter that is being circulated by Senators Tillis (R-NC) and Warner (D-VA) and Rep. Boustany (R-LA). THE DEADLINE FOR SIGNING IS NOON ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6. This letter asks the leaders of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to include all of the beneficial H-2B provisions from the House and Senate Departments of Homeland Security and Labor Appropriations bills.

WHAT ACTIONS CAN YOU TAKE?
1.     TOP PRIORITY -- Call your Senators and Representatives (see above)

2.     Ask your Senators and Representatives to speak to their colleagues – Senator-to-Senator and Representative-to-Representative conversations are very helpful. If they are supportive of the H-2B program, ask your Senators or Representative to speak to their party leadership and the Appropriations and Judiciary Committee leaders and stress the importance of addressing the H-2B program through appropriations. Specifically, we want them to express support for all of the H-2B provisions in the House and Senate Homeland Security and Labor appropriations bills including an H-2B returning worker exemption and language that addresses the new H-2B regulations.

3.  Continue the dialogue on social media
Please continue to discuss the importance of H-2B relief on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Tweet about the need for Congress to address the H-2B Program using #saveH2B. Direct the tweets to your two Senators and your Member of Congress, as well as the Representatives and Senators mentioned above.  You can find the Twitter address for your Senators and Representative at the links below.

Thanks for your continued outreach to help save the H-2B program. Your calls, letters, emails and tweets are making a huge difference on Capitol Hill.

Sincerely,
