advocacyThe 2019 Colorado legislature is in full swing and promises to be a busier year than usual. Political advocacy to protect landscape companies’ business interests is critical.

It’s also a valuable activity for leaders in the industry. Working together with peers toward a common goal benefits the community, but it also benefits the individual. Volunteering with advocacy efforts can be a great learning and networking opportunity.

Advocacy means more than flying to DC to meet with Congressional leaders or simply tweeting to them. On occasion, ALCC seeks feedback on new legislation and at times may be looking for members to testify on issues.

In the near future, there may be opportunities for ALCC members who are interested in the following subject areas:

  • Labor Force
  • Insurance
    • SB-188 FAMLI Family Medical Leave Insurance program
  • Tax Policy
    • SB-006 Electronic Sales And Use Tax Simplification System
    • HB-1240 Sales and Use Tax Administration
    • HB-1157 Modify Specific Ownership Tax Rates
  • Transportation
    • SB-051 Increase General Fund Funding for Transportation

If you are interested in supporting your industry through advocacy, click here to complete a brief form. You can also call ALCC at 303 757-5611 to express your interest.

Whether it is at the local, state, or federal level, advocacy volunteers can earn a sense of satisfaction that their efforts can help improve conditions for green industry businesses.
