Arbor Day is Friday, April 27 this year. All over the State of Colorado, there will be observances of this ecologically minded holiday, which began in 1872 in Nebraska. While the focus on most Arbor Day celebrations is on planting trees, the events are opportunities to educate the public on the importance of trees and their proper care.

For landscape companies, Arbor Day is a good time to reach out to your client base and talk with them about trees in their landscape. Share information and resources on proper tree care. Use research to show them that trees benefit our lifestyles. Encourage consumers to plant a variety of trees to offset the effects of devastating tree pests like Emerald Ash Borer.

Share fun facts about trees that demonstrate their financial and health values. You can find additional information in CSU’s 2017 study, The Hidden Value of Landscapes: Implications for Drought Planning.
