News from the ALCC Board

The following news was delivered to ALCC members in September 2016:

On behalf of the ALCC state board of directors, I am writing to let you know that our Executive Director, Kristen Fefes, is resigning her position effective March 2017 because her family is moving to Greece for an extended period. We will miss her terribly. She has been a remarkably talented and dedicated CEO and the organization has grown immensely during her tenure. We are grateful for her leadership and vision and wish her and her family the best. Kristen is totally committed to helping ALCC make the process of finding and training her replacement as smooth as possible. The ample lead time for her departure allows us to do a very thorough search.

Leadership change is a contingency for which the ALCC board has established policies and protocols. In addition, we discuss succession planning strategy annually, so we are prepared for this event. The Board has established a search committee which is already in the process of vetting search firms, as well as establishing a timeline for the transition to a new CEO.

As an association we have had two exceptional executive officers in the past thirty years or so. We are confident that we will find a new and equally capable leader for ALCC who will continue the tradition of growth and excellence laid by Kristen and her predecessors. We view this as an exciting opportunity for our membership moving forward. We already have a fantastic staff in place, dedicated volunteers and a loyal membership, putting the organization in a strong position to attract a new and exciting talent to take the lead for the future.

The state board officers are available and happy to talk to you should you like more information. Kristen is also available to talk to all of our members.

Sincerely,
Becky Hammond, ALCC State Board President
