The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) has issued the following urgent action request regarding the Department of Labor's proposed rule changes to overtime regulations.

Action Needed for DOL Overtime Rule
We need your help in asking senators and representatives to urge the Department of Labor (DOL) to withdraw its proposed changes to the overtime regulations. Their recommended modifications would be burdensome and costly to your business.

BACKGROUND
On August 6, NALP asked you to submit requests for an extension for comments on the DOL proposal that could change the exempt status of overtime pay to $50.440. DOL intended to make these changes effective within 60 days of the original proposal which is far too little time for research or comment by companies that would be impacted. Despite receiving more than 290,000 comments in the time allowed, DOL has refused to extend the comment period, denying a true voice for businesses across America. NALP and others are now taking this issue to Congress to encourage legislative intervention.

ACTION
We need you to communicate with your elected officials on the Hill.

If you wish to support this effort to urge Congress to request that DOL withdraw this proposed rule change, contact your Representative and Senators. You can find a list of Colorado legislators and contact info here , or call the Capitol Switchboard at 202 225-3121. When you reach your legislator's office, ask to speak to the staff person who handles labor. To send a letter follow this link. You can adjust the letter and add your story about the rule's potential effect on your business.

NALP has provided talking points for your discussion with your Representative and Senators.
