emerald ash borerThe Colorado Emerald Ash Borer Response Team has announced dates for training in emerald ash borer (EAB) detection and assessment of ash trees.

Workshop participants will learn techniques for assessing ash trees for EAB damage, collecting branch samples for EAB detection surveys, and branch peeling to detect EAB larvae. Basic diagnostics for other causes of ash tree decline will also be covered.

The workshops will be held in Boulder on the following dates:

    •    November 5th 10:00 a.m.—noon
    •    November 5th 1:00—3:00 p.m.
    •    December 3rd 10:00 a.m.—noon
    •    December 3rd 1:00—3:00 p.m.
    •    December 15th 10:00 a.m.—noon
    •    December 15th 1:00—3:00 p.m.
    •    December 17th 10:00 a.m.—noon
    •    December 17th 1:00—3:00 p.m.

The workshops are free, but registration is required and space is limited. Those interested in attending should contact Micaela Truslove at [email protected] or at 720 663-0430.

Members of the Colorado EAB Response Team are: City of Boulder Forestry Division; Colorado State University Extension; Colorado Department of Agriculture; USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service; and U.S. Forest Service.
