This award showcases sustainable landscape practices can be applied to conserve one or more valuable resources. At completion, the award recipient's project should exhibit specific sustainable outcomes that can be documents. Sustainability encompasses the 7 Principles of Xeriscape, the GreenCO BMPs, efficient water management and the sustainable landscape practices found in ALCC’s Green Strategies for Colorado Landscapes.

The 2017 Sustainability ELITE Award recipient is Bloom Concrete and Landscape for Morrison School House (Morrison, CO). This 1875 school house in Morrison was converted into a residential home with some modern interior and exterior additions. The rattlesnake-infested landscape was overgrown with weeds and unkempt trees. Bloom overhauled the backyard, keeping in mind the natural setting and the historic nature of the home while adding a modern twist. When construction began, resources of sandstone building materials and old school desks & chairs were discovered buried on the property. Bloom repurposed these materials in the new, child-and-pet-friendly landscape.
